Pros
First I would like to say a good majority of the colleagues that you work with are great. You can build some strong relationships and have some good conversations especially when you spend so much time working. This position is a performance based job and you can do very well and earn a good bonus. I would confidently say most individuals in this position make 80,000 or more annually.
Cons
Management inconsistencies - When you are performing well there is no managing at all really. No real one on ones and not any follow through on how you can improve besides an annual review. When issues arise you are micro managed heavily. You are also given strict timelines on when you have to follow up on things. This is understandable however when you need help you sometimes get no follow up from managers and have to follow up multiple times to get an answer. Work life balance - they are extremely understaffed with the growth the company has had they don’t have enough account managers. Each account manager is managing a large work load. To do well year round your averaging around 55 hrs a week. During the busy season you are averaging 70-80 hour work weeks. They block off time off during a 3-4 month stage of the year and you will lose your time off if you don’t use it. If you do take time off your pay could suffer because you have to put a lot of time in to do well. Support -From leadership, sales offices and tools to do your job well is an extreme issue here. You are consistently thrown under the bus by your sales offices you support. They are not looking at it as account management helps build those strong relationships and is the driving force to growing business. Management doesn’t step in most cases to back you up. It is a prove your innocence first before any back up. Pay - The hours to do well and the pay structure to do well is tough. You are all on managements discretion on your bonuses. There is favoritism when it comes to this. Certain individuals can get exceptions to help bump up their pay and get paid higher as a result. The individuals killing it had to work on average of 60 hours a week so things outside of work suffer. Relationships, mental health and health in general can suffer with this position.
