Pros
-The health benefits are pretty good. Most employees choose to enroll in the insurance versus elsewhere (spouses insurance). -General rule is 2 weeks vacation until 6 years then you get 3 weeks. Highly suggest negotiating for 3 weeks vacation prior to starting. -Stable job, no fear of losing job. Not much micro-management. You know your daily tasks and do them and never hear from your manager. -About every 3-4 months the company provides a free office lunch. There is a once a year holiday party. They offer about $10 reimbursement to monthly gym membership. -No overtime needed. - Fairly casual office environment "home" feel. Jean Fridays
Cons
- Don't expect to meet with your manager to discuss goals or get positive feedback besides once a year. Once a year you will meet with your manager for performance review and a slim chance of a pay increase. Anytime you get feedback from your manager will be if you did something wrong and you'll get an email explaining the correct way to do something. Even if it was a one time error out of 100 times doing it correct. You won't ever hear positive feedback "good job" until maybe your 1 time a year review. Goals are only discussed 1 time a year unless the employee asks for a meeting. - Pay increases are not guaranteed. They say you're only guaranteed every 3 years and it's only about 3% increase. Pay is average to on the lower end of market pay. - Departments constantly clash and result in a battle versus working together and seeing both sides. - Not equal treatment when it comes to life events. Some departments pass around a card for big life events (retiring, having a baby, getting married) and employees pay to have these gatherings. Some departments do nothing for their fellow colleagues when these events happen which makes you feel less valued than others. It's recommend a company wide policy where the company helps fund some specific events. - They don't focus on employee engagement. Don't offer classes or reimbursement to take a class to help benefit career. They don't offer you projects to do to help further career. You will do your job and not learn any other useful skills.
