Pros

They pay better than a lot of places in the immediate vicinity, but coupled with expensive benefits this quickly dissipates as soon as you search for jobs beyond Westby towards La Crosse.

Cons

Safety: A directive, but not a priority. Employees are demanded to work safe, but are also expected to have the highest production at the lowest time. Integral things like smoke arms, proper lighting, and even maintenance on equipment can take weeks up to months to get done. Example: One previous employee I know got third degree burns. They made him finish the day before offering to drive him to the hospital and only did that so he wouldn't drive himself. Benefits: Expensive. Not great. Change often leading to confusion among employees. Management: You might be pretty well off if you frequent Nordic Lanes with the boys. It's a club. They're all friends disconnected from their own days as a laborer. They expect too much and shift blame to "upper management" when it blows up in their faces. They'd rather stand at the end of a work line with their phones on, snap chatting and timing welders than actually jump in and contribute. Wages: Your raise comes in the spring. Or maybe summer. Or maybe winter. It always changes. They'll have reviews to knock you down but the good is never rewarded. The complacent workers who have years under their belt are treated better than newcomers coming in who want to work, leading to excessive, unnecessary turn over and that's remedied by hiring back people who were previously fired. No support for the worker. HR exists, but is split between two locations. Concerns raised often takes weeks for follow up, in which case they just come up with some excuse for why the workers concerns are misplaced. No one trusts the office, there's a severe split.

Cons

Discriminatory bosses, your skill and dedication meant nothing if you weren't "certain" individuals. Every ounce of your being is expected to be given, but the moment the "certains" need or want something or are in jeopardy you are the scape goat and/or problem. Was an awesome place at first. Then new owners, and the minor issues of staff got to be to much. 5yrs I was there. My attendance and pride in what I did went to hell. I did all I could to stay but for sake of my mental health and feeling of self worth, I had to quit. Sucks cause there are a few AMAZING people there. The the hell FAR out weighed the good. Main boss would call grown men from other departments vulgar names in front of everyone then when confronted get away with either lying or calling it a joke. This I witnessed myself.
