Pros
Has the great potential for impact overseas that a startup would have, but with the financial stability of a big company so that it is still able to bear risky bets, like our first party studios. It has been exciting to see these newly opened studios in the West develop and overall to just be a part of NetEase's growth outside of China. I get to work remote too but still have opportunity to head into the office for facetime with colleagues. Work-life balance on my team is good
Cons
Typical down sides of working at a Chinese company that you may also see at other Chinese game or tech co's: evening and night-time meetings and messages, typical Chinese-style lack of transparency and communication from leadership, and some out-group feeling if you don't speak Chinese well. But I do feel like leadership has been listening and adapting in the last several months, so I feel optimistic that some of these pain points will get better
