Pros
Wonderful people, office culture is laid-back depending which department or team you work in, Davis family (owners) are incredible individuals, plenty of opportunity to take on new challenges, reasonable benefit costs. Great product that you can be proud of making.
Cons
Endless opportunities to grow and take on new challenges, VERY limited opportunities for promotion as a result of your success. There is no attrition, you cannot move up into a management role when everyone has been holding onto them for 20 plus years. You have to leave the company in order to move up. The lack of movement in management also creates serious NB tunnel vision within the organization. Several members on the senior leadership team have spent their entire careers at NB. Very few women in positions of influence. When they are in leadership roles they tend to be in the typical female dominated functional areas of retail and HR. NB has been asking employees to do more with less since the economic downturn of 2008. In spite of making incredible profits the last few years and presently, the company still operates like it's 2008 and on the brink of laying people off. Employees are getting burned out and apathetic. Couple that with a strategic vision that changes all too often and you have a recipe for disaster. Your title and salary will not be remotely within the same ballpark of what you are actually tasked within doing.
