Pros
I was able to get the GREG fellowship, which is an in house scholarship that provides 3 years of funding. Securing this has helped me feel secure financially as I know my advisor can't just drop me now. This also affords me more time to focus on research and writing.
Cons
There are some good researchers here if you look but most are mediocre. Definitely not a ton of high profile research being conducted here. Oh and no health care benefits for grad students.
