Pros
- Due to lack of structure (could be con) ambitious people can gain advancement relatively quickly by filling and creating positions for themselves. - Opportunity for international travel to work on larger projects. Ability to work with colleagues internationally with little to no red tape. - Top of the line health benefits and generous PTO packages. Chicago office culture very relaxed, friendly and casual. - Wind industry is a really challenging industry but also relatively new and exciting to work in with a very strong network.
Cons
- Very little room for advancement unless you want to be based in Iowa, as people leave Chicago, office positions are being filled there. Very averse to remote work. - Diversity is extremely poor with little to no representation of women, other races or nationalities in the company unless expats. - Training and development opportunities are pretty much non-existent and any self-improvement/career development needs to be done on your own time and dime. - Wind industry is overall unstable and causes many swings in the business which can be very stressful for the companies involved. - Poorly executed merger resulting in the global fallout of many longtime, talented employees.
