Pros
You gained at least a very basic knowledge of how HIPAA works and what you need to know about what is PHI and no.
Cons
I was the only one in my department that had ever breastfed. So, they didn't have any kind of system in place for when breastfeeding mothers could pump. So, for my 14 hour shifts. I was only given two breaks. Whether I chose to eat something or pump didn't matter to them. There was no other time given to pump and the lactation room was over 10 minutes away (and I only had 30 minute breaks. So, we minutes to walk up there, 10 minutes to pump, and 10 minutes to walk back. I needed 30 minutes to pump, so my supply got dangerously low). I spoke with the department manager about this. Nothing was changed. I got in contact with HR about this issue and no one ever got back with me. You would think that the number 6 labor and delivery hospital in the country would be a bit more supportive with breastfeeding among the employees. But, you'd be wrong. I only worked there for 2 months in a temporary position, and in those two months I lost over 30 pounds because I chose to pump for my child on those breaks instead of eating.
