Pros

The building is nice and I liked my coworkers. This mission is also good, if they focused on it...

Cons

From the application process, interview, hiring, and first few months, I had a great impression of this company. Then, the cracks started to show. Everyone is so afraid of messing something up, that the company lacks innovation. And rightfully so, because anyone who makes a mistake is quickly shown the door. The micromanagement is obscene and often stops any true form of project progress in its tracks. So much money is wasted because people are trying to fly under the radar instead of given the opportunity to truly shine. The CEO is the worst I have ever witnessed in person. He sent out a survey asking for employee input on the hybrid work experience and then wasted over an hour at a company Town Hall displaying opinions that disagreed with his own and talking down to his employees. Talk about thin skin. Save us all the trouble and just don't send out a survey. Lastly, the hybrid work experience is really just used to control employees. Management threatens things like getting rid of it altogether and reviewing badge swipes. They insist it is a benefit and a privilege, but then lord it over the heads of employees in a weird sort of power trip. Every other company I have worked for has a much better policy and isn't so weird about it. There are plenty of WFH companies now, so if that is what you're looking for, don't bother coming here. OCLC is stuck in the 90s in that regard.

Pros

The benefits, particularly the thrift plan, are good for as long as they still exist. The employees are generally smart and caring people.

Cons

Upper management is neither good nor trustworthy. To go into details would most likely violate this website's TOS. Trust them not to tell you the truth, trust them to blame you if they can save themselves for another year. Any stories you've heard about a great place to work are based on old data. That company no longer exists. While layoffs have always been a threat, employees are constantly on edge now and having the CEO tell them if they want to stay on they shouldn't make trouble does not help, to say the least If you get hired here, understand that this cannot be a long term destination. Get your experience, have an exit plan, don't get comfortable and fade into mediocrity because that is your future, and that's if you are lucky. I just want to add that everything the other reviews say about the president is true. He absolutely did mock employee responses to an opinion survey at a town hall.
