Pros
- Your team and your individual team leader is committed to not just the success of the company, but to you; it feels genuine. - Working their didn't feel rigid/old fashioned. We could be ourselves. - Fairly accepting of remote/hybrid work. - Lots of company perks (gym memberships, movies, vacation discounts, shopping deals, etc.) - Employee benefits (health, vision, dental, life) were rock solid. - Everyone seems to enjoy the work they do, and cares about what they do not just because they're getting a paycheck. - Great opportunities to learn and grow in your industry (trade shows, conferences, etc)
Cons
- Not paying employees competitively (about 7% lower salaries across the board "for the good of the company"). - If the company is doing poor even one quarter don't expect any bonuses. - Get ready for some tense office politics. - Departments will often gatekeep between other departments. - VERY emotionally reactive upper management. "Sometimes I'll start a sentence and I don't even know where it's going. I just hope I find it along the way." That was how it felt anytime the CEO would make an address to the company...
