Pros
On the whole, Directors in Professional Services don't micro manage their teams, but this pro eventually morphs into a negative due to Directors' inabilities to address internal issues, further strangulated by Senior Management's hunt for revenue. The technology isn't ground breaking, but individuals get to work with a broad array of clients.
Cons
Since the sole focus of Senior Management is revenue, they choose not to address the periodic exits of competent professional services staff, or put forth any tangible incentives for individuals who continue to plow through increasingly complex and rigorous workloads. Any investment into existing personnel infrastructure is almost solely dedicated to Sales, and not promotions for Professional Services staff. PS Support team members are limited to part-time hours that are further cut by Management during peak project months. Positive client feedback is congratulated with more work. Without prior hands-on knowledge and ability, some people sink due to the non-existent in house training. Senior Management pushes significant product releases during peak season, without any input from primary users taken into account. Tasks that should take moments to complete, now consume 2-3x as much time due to the hasty software rollout. Product Management is too busy touring the Product on roadshows to answer platform questions or at least seem interested in feedback. HR is nearly invisible.
