Pros
- People genuinely care about each other and everyone in the engineering team is treated with respect - Engineers are motivated to do their job - Close to zero turnover rate, which is very uncommon in software world - A big greenfield project to work on - High traffic website that is growing in market share, so interesting challenges to solve - Not your typical software environment. Lots of opportunities for keeping fit and lots of colleagues are passionate about sports. This has positive impact on the vibe of the company. - Nice perk of having cool shoes and apparel as part of your yearly allowance
Cons
- Establishing a strong feedback culture is still very much a work in progress - Product direction was very confusing. It was never a secret and has improved lately though - It's still early to see what are the impacts in everyday life at work after the company went public - On is a product-focused company, and software is not the product here. The engineering culture is being built, rather than being there from day 1 as you would see in typical, pure SaaS companies.
