Pros

Good place to learn a skilled trade and move on as soon as you are ready. If you work in production you can mostly focus on your job and not worry about the politics.

Cons

This company has the absolute highest turnover at every level you’ll ever see. The biggest problem is the turnover of upper management. If they don’t leave, the owner runs them off rather than trying to train them or address problems. This creates much bigger problems. There is a culture of fear at every level because everyone in management knows they could be gone any day and everyone in production knows they’ll have to work even more because of it. Preproduction creates all sorts of problems for production and production gets the heat when they can’t produce enough. There have been managers trying to fix the problems but nobody is here long enough to make a difference. This is a place where the highest decision maker makes decisions based on emotions and input from people covering their own position. The result is the only managers that stay are the ones that can politically maneuver well enough with the owner and deflect blame onto others. Not the best environment for anyone who wants to enjoy their job.

It's disappointing to hear you feel so negatively about Ore, but we do appreciate you being honest and sharing your frustrations. Assuming you do still work here, we'd appreciate a chance to further discuss ways to improve. Ore is a non-retaliatory employer and we welcome feedback (good or bad) from everyone. With that in mind, we hope you feel comfortable sharing these concerns with your Lead/Supervisor/Manager or a member of the HR team. They're here to help remove obstacles and frustrations and make Ore a better place to work. In the meantime, let me respond to a few of your concerns: The "absolute highest turnover rate at ever level"... Ore has a 6.9% Average Monthly Turnover Rate this year. This is company-wide. It's Ore's position that any employee who leaves Ore (whether involuntarily or voluntarily) is a failure on our part, and it means we either 1) failed to train adequately, 2) failed to retain successfully, or 3) as you put it, we "suck at hiring". Sometimes it's one of the aforementioned and sometimes it's a combination of all three. So we're addressing all three: Training, Retaining, and Hiring. As a member of the Executive Team with intimate knowledge of all hirings and firings, I can confirm that there is always more to the situation that someone on the outside knows. It's true, we've experienced turnover of upper management and that has created some challenges, but we're confident we're improving as a company and things will continue to get better. Change in and of itself is hard, especially for those who don't have all the details and insight behind the change, and Ore can do better at communicated why changes are made. And we will. "Production [employees] get the heat"... Management is aware of, and constantly hi-lights with compliment, the efforts of our Production Employees. We know they are working as hard and as fast as they can and it's shared publicly in company-wide meetings the appreciate we feel for our employees in the shop. We celebrate and recognize the fact that our Production Employees are the ones who dig us out of difficult situations and we value them tremendously. We are working through our Pre-Production processes to improve them and thereby alleviate the strains that the mistakes made in this area of the business places on Production. We welcome your feedback ...if even critical or negative... and would like to discuss solutions with you to make things better.

Pros

Their product was of the highest quality. I really felt passionate about facilitating green spaces in cities with the Ore product line. From the edging, fire pits, and water features the craftsmanship really showed the passion of the design, sales and manufacturing team. Shane is a great CEO and leader, he truly is deeply committed to providing a top tier product nationwide, working with the premier landscape architects in the country.

Cons

During my time there were 3 sales managers which created a lot of change but leadership always encouraged and open door policy to escalate concerns and opportunities for improvement.

Pros

HR people are nice. But they are the only ones leaving good reviews here!

Cons

Everything else! This place is a revolving door. Almost everyone hates working there, but they do because they have few options. Don't waste your time. The culture is toxic and it comes from the top. The owner is pompous and arrogant. Seriously, there are much better places to work. Read the reviews here (Not the ones from HR, LOL!) and save yourself a big headache. And benefits are terrible!

We’re sorry to hear that your experience at Ore was not a positive one. We appreciate your positive comment about HR, but we recognize that a strong workplace depends on leadership, communication, accountability, and trust across the entire company. Ore is actively working to strengthen those areas and improve the overall employee experience. To that point, Ore takes concerns about culture, leadership, turnover, benefits, and employee experience seriously. While we can't speak to every detail in an anonymous review, we do use this feedback to better understand where employees may feel unsupported and where we need to improve. And then we get to work making those improvements. So thank you for sharing your feedback. We appreciate the time you spent with Ore and wish you the best moving forward.
