Ore is, as you say, "a pretty fun place to work"! We agree that we have a great culture ...because of employees like you! We are continually to improving our leadership by finding and adding experienced management professionals as well as by helping our legacy managers grow and learn new skills. It's a fun and exciting time at Ore as we are systematically improving our manual processes to automated control systems to make everyone's job easier. There are good times ahead for Ore!

Pros

It's a really great product and customers are awesome. The work the team does out in the shop is really incredible and the people are the best.

Cons

Direction is constantly changing. Management comes on and feels like they are making progress and then gets pushed out. No one can stand to stay very long. Bonuses that are promised and even in the contract, owner/CEO will find a way out of them.

Thanks for the feedback. As the Director of HR, I'm personally responsible for employment contracts and have direct influence over the distribution of bonuses. I can assure you Ore keeps it's word and makes good on promises, particularly regarding bonuses and employment contracts. Ore has a track record of long-time employees who love working here. It's true, we do have some turnover which is a result of some poor performance as well as some poor management practices. We're addressing both by providing more clarity to our employees and sending our managers to leadership development courses at the University of Utah's Executive Education program. We're a fast-growing company and that growth presents challenges that we continually address by seeking input from all employees across the entire organization. I'm sorry you had a poor experience and would be interested in hearing more so we can keep improving. To that point, feel free reach me personally at 801-677-0340 or dvogelsberg@ore.design.

Pros

The owners. No egos or demand to be right. Instead, they ask for feedback and suggestions. They encourage everyone to look for the the best/right way to do things and are open to ideas from anyone and everyone. They have invested and continue to invest in new, more experienced leadership. When the company does well, they're generous to all employees (unscheduled bonuses) and even built a new, state of the art, clean, and safe facility. Work/Life balance is the best I've experienced. No pressure or expectation to work late or over weekends. In fact, they encourage you to disconnect and leave work at work.

Cons

Constant growth and keeping up with orders can be hard. Adjusting to new management can be difficult too so consistency and setting expectations will help. Spreading out the workload to avoid overtime and being sent home early in certain times of year would be nice too.

It's true, Ore is growing and with that growth comes unsuspected growing pains. We're trying hard to continually make Ore a better place to work and will keep investing in leadership and other programs to make us better.
