Pros
Somehow this terrible company brings on the smartest people in tech. Also the product is fine.
Cons
Ooooo boy where do we start? Easy. At the top. Outreach is “toxic masculinity” personified with a CEO who cares about one thing and one thing only: $$$ That’s fine. Money is good. But he has said during multiple all-hands meetings over the years that he doesn’t care about employee retention; he cares about revenue. Believe people when they show you who they are, and wow, this guy really wants you to know you only matter if you make him richer. This POV has poisoned the C-suite. It bled into the entire culture where everyone is afraid to speak up for themselves or point out when the train is going off the track. The most successful people are the ones who spend all day playing politics. The individual contributors who carry the weight of the business receive little to no recognition, and are too burnt out to look for a better job. When they finally leave, they sound like me: angry it took too long to get out. Overjoyed to find out there’s an entire alumni of ex-outreachers who felt gaslit the entire time they worked there. To anyone who still works there, you can do better. Promise.
