Pros
I’ve worked for PHMG for 18 months, having previously worked for a large multi-national. By comparison, I enjoy the fact that it feels a youthful and dynamic company to work for with a “work hard, play hard” ethos. There seems to be a genuine, company-wide enthusiasm for the services that are provided to the clients. Offices are pleasant and include pool tables, a table-tennis table and a grand piano. They’re located overlooking Old Trafford (football or cricket depending on which side of the office you’re looking out of). Perks include an additional half-day holiday after your birthday, and discounts on barber, beautician & gym membership. Outside of work, there are swanky Christmas and summer parties, provided you accept the trade-off of the corporate presentations that precede both. Everyone is actively encouraged to participate in charity fund-raising events, and there are active (and successful) football, netball and cricket teams.
Cons
Rigid working patterns - no flexible working (although there’s a time-keeping bonus for always turning up on time). Competitive pay but other elements of the overall package (sick pay, pension, annual leave allowance) fall behind what larger firms offer.
