Pros
- PoolCorp had a 1 year training program that consisted of mostly recent college grads. The training program was in-depth but you truly got out as much as you put in. Out of a training class of 25-30, about 2/3 made it through and about 1/2 of the training class I was part of is there a year later. It was clear that half the class didn't put in effort and they didn't last through the training program. - Great opportunity to be a leader and manager right out of college, but the experience will depend on the branch you end up at coming out of the training program and how many hours you are willing to work to make it a good warehouse. - Great upper level management, specifically the region and division managers. - 40 hour work week in the winter months in seasonal markets. - Opportunity to earn up to $18K in incentives / bonuses - Good benefits, 401K that vests immediately upon termination or after specified amount of years employed.
Cons
- Base Salary below average for the amount of hours worked and the responsibilities. - Incentives / Bonuses based on factors out of your control and the other half is extremely hard to attain if you are only working 40-50 hours per week. - Warehouse environment in which you must be prepared to get dirty and work hard. - 50-60 hour work week during summer months regardless of location, salaried for 40 hours. - Company VERY tight with wage increases (along with lower than average starting wages) which makes turnover of warehouse workers and drivers in the warehouse very high, at least in my experience.
