Pros
Medical, dental insurance. Paid time off. Working with families that really need support. Supportive coworkers.
Cons
Guaranteed burnout for very low pay. Nearly impossible to meet billing requirements and you are not allotted enough time to complete paperwork. You will work unpaid overtime just to get paperwork done. Feels like a sad joke to work for a mental health agency that treats employees so poorly. Clinicians laid off due to budgeting and weren’t given time to communicate with client families, yet management upset when clients did not want to start working with a stranger with no heads up? Supervision is hit or miss. We had a really difficult supervisor who played favorites and was outwardly hostile. HR disclosed our concerns to the supervisor but did not offer solutions to improve the situation or change in supervisors. This led to more hostility. It’s a shame because the families we work with really need and deserve quality clinicians, but working at this agency will burn you out. Even if I had had an amazing supervisor, the pay is very low for the amount of work and makes it hard not to feel taken advantage of. We are not in this work for the money but we still need to survive.
