Pros

Compensation (high base), commission, low cost health insurance, work for an established organization, challenging work, in-person comradery, work alongside talented salespeople Good friends with my teammates/manager

Cons

The expectations are very high within this role. You have weekly metrics, as well as monthly/yearly quota that you are expected to exceed. You will work the entire sales cycle, from prospecting, outreach, planning, meeting execution, selling, demonstrating, closing, setup, transition, training, go-live, and post-payroll care. As much as management lists this as an outside sales role, you are responsible for (your commissions depend on) the entire lifecycle of the client with Paycom. Your priorities are not aligned with the transition/new client setup team as their pay structure is different than outside sales, so this results in having to micromanage your transitions as you continue to exceed performance on the front end with other prospective clients. There are many changes that happen (as quick as 24hr notice) and you are expected to follow suit without hesitation/questions. I felt like a robot at many points in my career with Paycom and like management did not care about the concerns of the talented people they put in the role in the first place. My mental health was worse than ever, working from 6am-7pm many days. My success was never enough. Maybe other people are meant for this role for the long-term more than I was.

Pros

- training that will improve your skill - become better at fear management (fight mode is real)

Cons

- you will be threated to be fired- many many times (even if you work extremely hard) - your hard work is not valued- unreasonable expectations - there is not benchmark of success- goal always moves out of reach - no support, managers are more worried about not being fired than helping you
