Pros
Employees are nice and try their best to help each other. It's possible to move up to a better position, especially because they terminate or drive out good managers (not sure if that's a pro or con...perhaps both)
Cons
Where to begin... - Promised a bonus structure that never came to fruition. Was lied to multiple times by their "C.O.O." named Joel, who is the owner's son. He kept saying he was working on it, but never did. He implied a bonus structure was already created, but it never was. I was lied to about this on four occasions by Joel himself over the course of nine months. - The company believes in six core values as their motto, yet Joel doesn't act on any of these core values himself. - They call themselves a "Tribe." However, in a tribe, managers are supposed to help each other and the Owner's, particularly the owner's son, Joel, should be knowledgeable and helpful when managers need them or need him. There is really no Tribe mentality on their part at all, it's all smoke and mirrors. It's just something they tell new hires and new trainees to make them feel like they are working at a good company. - As a manager, we are constantly in need of tools, software, programs, processes, etc... in order to execute our jobs. Ask anyone at the company and the number one thing you'll hear as criticism is how cheap the owners are, particularly Joel. I sent countless emails to him, had countless meetings with him in regard to things that we needed to purchase in order to run the business properly. Emails would go completely unanswered and ignored in meetings, all he would do is try to buy time and make excuses. He refused to spend any money at all. And even the equipment, tools, and programs that we had in place we're all the cheapest available. This lent to a myriad of issues of course, with many things not working, or broken, and no backups. You can't run a business this way. - Joel expects his managers to physically write down what they did daily and turn it into him... This is how clueless he is. Instead of putting his phone down and leaving his office, taking a walk around the building to visit with his managers and his employees, he believes this would be more effective 🤦🏻♂️. - Each manager is expected to accept at least two Rocks. Rocks are goals, or initiatives, that a manager takes and they are given out quarterly. Managers are expected to come up with solutions to these issues within the quarter. However, there are many times in which these Rocks are either unclear or unattainable in the time frame given due to many outside influences. And there are many times these rocks are given to managers that have nothing to do within that scope of work or within that department. - They can't keep Directors if their lives depended on it. They will use directors and managers for their benefit and once they feel they've gotten what they wanted out of them, they either terminate them or begin a corrective action plan against them in order to terminate them or in order to discourage these leaders to quit. We went through countless managers and directors. I've never seen anything like it, not at any other company I've ever worked at. And for some reason, the owners seem completely oblivious to it. And they wonder why they're management team is miserable working for them. - Terrible communication; good luck getting answers to your emails or any requests you have. And when you finally do get an answer, if you ever do, it's too late and whatever you were working on has fallen flat on its face or whatever deal you've made is dead in the water. And to double down, Joel well blame you for not completing whatever task it was that you were working on. How ironic? - Ownership, particularly Joel, will never take accountability for being completely inept in his position, for his non-existent communication, for his non-existent leadership, and for his non-existent knowledge. - They will absolutely use you because of your wonderful abilities and once you've completed the things that they wanted you to complete, you are of no further use to them and they will terminate you. -In case you haven't figured it out by now, good luck working with Joel. I can't tell you how many managers I've spoken with personally that stated they couldn't stand working with him. His expectations are not in reality, his help is non-existent, you will not receive any feedback other than corrective action if he feels like you haven't done your job to his liking, he will set no expectations with you so you'll never know if you are doing things as he expects you to do them, yet he has no qualms with giving you a corrective action and placing blame on you 🤦🏻♂️ I can continue with much more, but I'm sure you get the picture. I'll be typing for the next 6 hours if I were to continue. But this should suffice for now.
