Pros

They are always hiring. Literally, always. And the reason is because they can't keep anybody around. That should be your first question in the interview process - "why are you guys always hiring for this position?". They also will hire anybody. It's honestly pretty funny when you see the types of candidates they have walking thru the door these days. They will brag and boast about their culture and work place awards...but those are from years ago and was under a different leadership team. This place is going down hill fast and once Roy is gone, there is zero chance the kids will keep this business afloat. The writing is on the wall for Perma Seal. You can bet that for sure. Will give them 5 stars for diversity and inclusion as nobody who performs the work in customers home speaks English.

Cons

-Tons of customers who have had work done by Perma seal, would never have work done by them again or recommend. Go read the 1 star reviews, those are the honest Perma seal reviews that aren't prompted or paid for. You quickly realize the "we are the best" saying you hear repeatedly as they beat their chest, is not actually true. You will be fighting plenty of losing battles upon arrival to customer homes. The workmanship is not as skilled as they say, and theres plenty of nightmare stories out there to back this. -Scheduling and Routing department was by far the worst part of this experience. I live in oswego and was sold on a "Naperville Territory" for the 4 months I was in talk with the recruiter. Once hired, I find out that territory is really a "25 mile radius" from where I live. Not what I signed up for, but okay. Then once you start running appointments, you are actually given appointments 40+ miles away routinely. I'm talking 9am appointments that are an 80+ minute drive to get there. Very common to have days driving over 125-150 miles round trip. They will send guys in the city out the suburbs and guys in the suburbs to the city. It makes zero sense and nobody at Perma seal can give a good reason as to why. Incompetence and lack of logic is the reason. There was one Friday I was sent to an address in Bartlett - I confirmed the street address with the customer only to knock on the door and find out the scheduling department "made a mistake" and the address should have been Romeoville. When I plugged the correct address in, it was over 1 hour away from my location. I called the office to say I couldn't make it to which my manager abruptly responded "sorry buddy I need you there" and hung up the phone. Thats the level of incompetence im talking about here. You have 1 job to answer a phone and record information - how do you mess up the wrong city? I get it if it's a street # or street name misspelled. But the wrong city? Because of them, I drove an unnecessary 2 hours that day on my dime as we pay for our own gas. You think the office would offer a tank of gas for the mistake.. but nope. *****-Mileage reimbursement/Gas stipend - there is none. You will spend $400-600+/mo on gas for this job depending what you drive. You will drive over 3K miles a month, easily (thats over 30K miles a year on your car). You will need an oil change and other maintenance trips, much more frequent and this adds up. They pride themselves on how great of a place it is to work, we take care of our people - blah blah. Their #1 competitor US Waterproofing even pays for your gas as a sales rep. Knowing what I know now, I would've 110% rather have given that company a shot than Perma Seal. Perma Seal WAS the Chicago waterproofing company years ago. But that was years ago. What once was, isn't necessarily always the same. And that rings true with Perma Seal now that I've seen behind the curtains. Told all my friends and family to call US Waterproofing for their needs that I truly wouldn't trust or want this company going into my parents or grandparents home. They will sell you anything to collect $$. Long story short - If you have never had a sales job in your life and want some experience. They will 100% hire you. They hire anybody. It's just a entry level sales job at best. But you do have to start somewhere If you have sales experience and are good - I promise you this is not the opportunity for you. This is entry level/beginner. Theres too many hoops to jump thru. Sales can be cancelled without any reasons within 72 hours of the contract being signed - and you will lose sales due to this. You will have to wait weeks and many cases months (12+ weeks) to get paid for a sale you made. Theres just too many variables at stake to get paid in this role.
