Pros

The children. Some are so sweet and you wish you could help them more.

Cons

Although they say it’s a full time job, you will be doing most of your work for free.. I worked an average of 30 hours a week and only got paid for 10. The time it takes you to schedule and communicate with families, case managers and foster parent are completely unpaid. You’re only on the clock once a child is in your car and during a visit, if the parent doesn’t show up (which happens more then they do actually come) you lose that time. The mileage reimbursement is much much lower then the average, 15 cents a mile as opposed to the average of 40. You will basically be an on call employee with no days off as you will be communicating with multiple people on a daily basis -unpaid... During the interview process they will say it is a full time position, during training they will also sell it that way, with additional time added for admin. Which isn’t true, you will get one hour of admin IF a visit happens. So when the parents do not show up that reimbursement doesn’t happen. I personally took on an enormous case load and never received a full 40 hour paycheck. Nor has anyone I’ve spoken to within the company.
