Working here makes you feel like you're back in high school all over again. - Anonymous employee Planet Fitness Employee Review

Pros

Co-workers in the lower levels are hard-working and easy to get along with. The pay was decent, but not great.

Cons

The corporate office is run like a high school popularity contest. The marketing department is full of the "popular people" who do the least work for the most money & reward. Upper management is entitled while lacking even the most basic understanding of day-to-day operations. Favoritism is rampant, and there's an underlying current of "do whatever it takes to get to the top." The company's recent growth has resulted in every decision being made by throwing money/people at a problem, instead of solving it with logic or any long-term thought. Third part vendors are treated abysmally. It's telling when the majority of the long-term employees all started to leave en masse. Joining them in leaving was the best thing I did there.

Cons

Poor management planning on all fronts; hiring, firing, scheduling, daily tasks. Extreme expectation of unpaid labor. Was asked multiple times directly and bluntly to work for free for 40 hrs a week for 4 years on top of my paid 30 hrs a week. There is effectively no training for the following roles; front deck, team lead, assistant manager, general manager. Front deck has zero. All other role's "training" material are just buzzword soup packets and references to 3rd party podcasts or internal corporate "books or podcasts" from workers with no qualifications on the subjects their speaking on. Expextation to endlessly work and give more. If all tasked where done, you would be ask to redue them again, endlessly, until your shift was over. No hourly rate adjustments for increased workloads. Repeatedly pushed to lie to customers to make sales and keep costumers paying for a membership.
