Pros
Work from home Lots of leads, states, carriers They paid for me to get licensed and gave me a start with no prior insurance experience. I really appreciated this as a young person. My understanding is that they don’t do this anymore however. Rapid growth company I like doing the job itself and my coworkers and teammates.
Cons
Micromanaged Toxic work culture at times, regular disputes over commission Not a lot of positive recognition for the average client advisor You can’t earn renewal commission Service and sales are too intertwined that too many people drop the ball/ pass the buck resulting in difficult situations for customers that can often have been avoided. Not a lot of training opportunities, career advancement or even time to attend things like HR meetings in real time. I usually end up having to watch the recording on my day off. Very aggressive expectations, you will be fired if they are not met no matter how long you have worked there for. Multiple of my friends have after years of working there. It feels a long way off from the local Vermont company it felt like when I joined, advertised as a long term career opportunity. Getting paid on incentives they put out takes so long it feels like they are hoping you forgot you earned them. When they come they are paid on a prepaid business card and you cannot transfer the money to your own account. They also don’t breakdown the lump sum payment or timeframe it was earned, making it even harder to keep track of. Service and support staff are understaffed, but no shortage of Senior VPs and CEsomethings. Feel nickel and dimed a lot, especially when it comes to PTO, which is minimal and inflexible. You can probably make as much money elsewhere and not be as stressed.
