Pros
It's an incredibly fun work environment. Everyone is a family, not just coworkers, and everyone, including the bosses, always asks "how are you?" every day at the beginning of a shift. You get half off of food purchases before or after your shift, and they're usually really understanding about needing time off.
Cons
There are many different levels of hierarchy at Portillos, and unfortunately, as you climb that chain, the level of respect that is shown to hourly employees gets worse and worse. General managers often just stand and yell, love making people cry, and should just in general be avoided like the plague. They like to put on a show when someone from corporate comes around, but that's the only time you'll ever see them truly care. Also, hard work can often go unnoticed at the higher level. The head honcho usually only hears about how well you're doing instead of actually seeing, so rewards and promotions are often more acquired through time and prior experience.
