Like the other reviews have stated, the office is amazing. The amenities are far more than most employers offer. The company events manage to be fun, lavish and unique. The learning experience is one-of-a-kind at PDI.
Cons
Based on what I'm hearing from former and current employees, all the negative aspects of the company are still intact after all the talk about improving. This leads me to wonder how legitimate the positive reviews are. No workplace is perfect and to rate it as such is a tiny bit odd. When a company has a reputation that is known even by people whom have never worked for PDI, there has to be something negative to be said in any honest review. It's not hard to find handfuls of problems with PDI, many of which are echoed in the negative reviews you can see on Glassdoor. I can say that my compensation was very poor in contrast to my education and experience. When more and more responsibilities are added to your plate and the skill level you're required to have expands, you'd think raises would be a no-brainer. This is not the case. Raises were oddly arbitrary and ever changing in their frequency or amount ... if you were ever lucky enough to get one at all. The desires of both myself and fellow employees to grow outside of our job duties were not heard. When you combine low pay and no way to better yourself, a disillusioned employee is going to spawned from that. This would explain the high rate of turnover PDI experiences. An employee looking for more and who makes that known is not going to sit dormant and allow their personal career goals to be buried just because management has no clue on how to expand a department. I truly liked the people who I worked with. The co-workers were always professional, helpful and knowledgeable in my department. When you see such people get nowhere in PDI, you wonder if they are even looked at as the driving force behind the company's explosive growth. Management does not really appear to understand that the employees make the company and by not allowing them to blossom out of dead end positions only hurts PDI and its already grey reputation. There's no real reason to get into some details as they've been repeated often below. The culture feels flawed. Hiring young newcomers is great, but not when there are few veterans there to show them the tricks of the trade. One department felt like a fraternity and sorority with out of control libidos and egos. Once or twice a year it looked like the entire department was scrubbed out and a new batch of fresh graduates poured in for another repeat cycle. I've worked for quite a few companies and never have I had an experience like that at PDI. Some were positive and fun, but career wise, it was depressing. The job and struggles and stress it put me through did actually send me into a state of depression that I had to seek professional treatment for. Never have I had that happen at any job.
