Where to begin? As other reviewers have stated, the position posting and hiring process were very misleading as to what the actual job was. I found out it was actually a door to door position my first day on the job. The training is sub par and there are many many gaps in it that don’t really prepare you for actually knocking on a random person's door. The staff is basically a giant frat, constantly making inappropriate comments and jokes that would get you in trouble with any other company’s HR department (which they don’t have). There’s a “challenge Monday” which is basically hazing in a frat house. They do dumb stuff like make you eat some sort of concoction that another person made in the kitchen or slap you with a fish if you lose the challenge. Avoid this company if you’re a woman. They are a sexual harassment lawsuit waiting to happen.
The managers don’t know the first thing about running a meeting. They can’t command the room and are constantly being interrupted by employees shouting out their two cents. As for the job itself, door to door is obviously awful and not something you want to do the rest of your life, especially if you have any meaningful education.
You make about 800 every two weeks (not including bonus). Bonus is easy enough to obtain if you’re good and actually try. One thing they don’t account for is clients flat out don’t want to work on their house in the winter and especially not during COVID. They do not adjust their goals for this and if you don’t meet them, you get fired. So it’s not really a bonus, it’s mandatory. $800 is also just not enough money for the abuse you receive, especially in a higher cost of living area.
Management claims there is room for growth at the company but how you get there is bizarre. Option number one is to be friends with the manager and you’ll get promoted after a few weeks, even if you have poor performance. Option number two is knock on doors for the better part of a year, then get promoted to a driver and knock doors some more. Then, maybe after a year, will you get a decent position if the managers haven’t already given it to their buddy.
Day-to-day consists of driving long hours to distant locations in communal vans that are not COVID-compliant, coming back home late every night ( well past your scheduled hours). The vans themselves are absolutely disgusting with food constantly left behind from the previous days. The vehicles themselves are in poor conditions. By far the worst part is the drivers. You can get a terrible driver that speeds excessively, doesn’t watch the road etc. You will almost get in an accident almost every day. One guy actually backed up on the highway after missing an exit. You can also get someone who blasts music to the point where your ears hurt.
You’ll get some rude people at the door and some will say some truly awful stuff to you so be prepared for that because managers certainly won’t tell you that or support you. There is no reprieve from inclement weather so you will get soaked, sunburnt and freeze. In addition, you don't get bathroom breaks or a lunch break. You'll likely have to go to the bathroom in a bush somewhere if you can find one. There are some nice people but they are few and far between. Still, the worst part of the job is not the work you do, it’s the company you work for.
P.S. if you’re worried about Covid, don’t work here. Not a single person actually wore a mask regularly or too necessary precautions like social distancing.
