Pros
Will hire just about anyone to be a marketer. If you are a good producer you will have significant leeway to work as you wish within their guidelines “Performance not tenure decides how quickly you move up in the company” Iv seen this be both true and false at different times.
Cons
It’s a halfway house. 70% of employees have one foot out the door and are only in it for the check. Especially pervasive in the marketing & call center departments. “Performance not tenure decides how quickly you move up in the company” There is a “we’re a family” attitude in the workplace. This typically applies to the founders/insiders & good producers. Otherwise you are expendable. Everyone starts in marketing with very few exceptions. Door to door marketing; if you can’t produce or show transferable skills your tenure will be rather short. Marketing hours from 11-7pm not including time spent traveling to turf. Workplace culture is akin to that of a fraternity. Hyping the company & drinking the kool-aid is a good performance substitute. Derogatory language is common place. 3 HR incidents in just over a year. Conflicts of interest are also commonplace within management. When the company lawyer comes to give the HR presentations you know something isn’t right.
