Pros
Of the many jobs I've had over the years, this has been by far the BEST. I've been here more than 2 years, and I still love it every day. There's an awesome work-life balance, a fun staff who pray for each other and genuinely care about each other, a real compassion for the mission and for serving the Lord, an incredible benefits package (with great healthcare/dental, wellness programs, and a day off for Good Friday and entire week off for Christmas), a diverse staff (many have served time in prison, overcome addiction, struggled with depression -- they're REAL people who aren't afraid to talk about tough topics!), and a feeling of being treated like an adult who doesn't need to be micromanaged. I've had "slave-to-the-clock" jobs where if I arrived 5 minutes late, I was reprimanded, but if I worked an hour late, no one appreciated it. Prison Fellowship isn't like that. You're not micromanaged. You're trusted to get your work done and given (some) flexibility to do so (as long as you don't abuse it, which I've not seen people do). If you like working in an office, Prison Fellowship has jobs in the VA HQ, with great staff activities and parties and treats. If you prefer working from home, the full-time remote positions might be more your speed. (I love working from home!). Overall, this is an AMAZING place to work!
Cons
Because about half of the staff works remotely from home, all over the country, there is sometimes the silo effect when it comes to communication issues between departments and sometimes even between people in the same department. Also, not everyone stops to really appreciate each other and thank each other (ex: there's a peer-to-peer staff recognition at each all-staff meeting, but it's often the same few names over and over, with entire departments not submitting anything for each other), and prayer meetings aren't as crowded as they really should be for a Christian ministry. But these issues are slowly starting to get a little better.
