Pros

If you have nerves of steel and can sell via cold call, then $45,000 per year in the Phoenix market ain't bad for a 22 year old.

Cons

Literally everything else. It's dreadful work. Boiler room tactics. The entire training program is oriented toward making their salesman sketchy and dishonest. The work is somehow both incredibly boring and horrifyingly unethical at the same time. Your job can literally be summed up as follows: You get a phonebook on your computer full of small businesses who do almost no business with a university. You call these small businesses, use seedy language to convince them you are "with the athletic department", and then try to convince them that if they drop about $800 on a small ad in the university's football program, the university may look favorably upon giving them business at a later date. For 75% of business owners, they will immediately recognize this sort of arrangement as nonsense and irrelevant to their model; it would make no sense for them to advertise this way. 90% of the remaining 25% are smart enough to realize the product your selling is overpriced. 99% of the remaining 2.5% are incompetent, can't afford the ad, and/or are impossible to get a hold of. 80% of secretaries are smart enough to stonewall you before you even get to the people I just mentioned. A sizable majority of the sales representatives here last less than a year.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you did not have a positive experience at PSP. This is certainly not typical and we would welcome the opportunity to discuss this further with you. Please reach out to our HR department at your convenience. We take great pride in training our people to sell, and we receive tremendous feedback from both current and former employees on the sales foundation they receive here. Our people generally go on to excel in sales careers, due largely to the training they receive at PSP. Obviously sales is about building relationships, and selling in an unethical manner is counter to this philosophy. Quite obviously not what we teach, as evidenced by our stellar reputation and decades long relationships in the sports industry. Sales is certainly not for everyone and we are sorry it did not work out for you. Again, please reach out if you would like to discuss further.
