Chasing the Almighty Dollar - Consultant Public Consulting Group Employee Review

Pros

They know their way around public organizations (healthcare, human services, education), how to respond to RFPs, get business. They are successful despite themselves.

Cons

Poor pay, poor treatment of employees. They pay most 'consultants' between $60-80K then bill them out at over $200/hr. That is the reason for their success. The work horses are treated poorly with no HR and a management staff that is looking to pad their income with bonus. It is like matrix marketing where only the top make money. The poor clients get 'help' in the form of a body (but we get no training and no attention) but for a cost that really takes needed $$s out of the public sectors. They will churn through employees in 'hopes' of keeping the client happy. Worse leadership and management I have ever seen. Finger pointing culture, you can survive if you are a favorite, but still they have a revolving door of employees.

Pros

Really enjoyed my teammates, we all tried surviving the ever rotation of projects and assignments that were given to us that didn’t have clear direction or instructions.

Cons

Had to take leave due to mental exhaustion and anxiety due to this job. Constantly was being told because we made salary to be expected to work past our scheduled hours. Was always told to voice when I was at capacity and had enough on my plate, and when I did, I was just given more. Senior managers undermined my work, would throw you under the bus if they messed up and needed a scapegoat. Communication team to team was so awful, even the products are just a mess. Just the worst place that I’ve ever worked. Some teams had fought for years to get more people hired on their teams to help with the load they were given, and were never listened to, then higher ups were shocked when they all left.
