Pros
PCG is ambitious--I'll give them that. They want to be everywhere, in everything. The business model seems a lot like early Microsoft in that respect. Buy up a good product, milk it for all its worth. The company will grow as a result. 4-5 weeks PTO is nice, and the 401k up to 6% is pretty cool as well.
Cons
Where to start... 1. It seems like upper management is incapable or unwilling to actually DECIDE things. Lots of talking instead. 2. Too much competition between offices, teams, etc. 3. Low salaries. With no COLA this year for employees who make over 80k--as if the cost of living hadn't gone up for them..? 4. Get the feeling as an employee, that I'm fodder. A commodity to be used up and discarded, rather than an asset who has a lot to bring to the table. 5. It seems the business management, HR, and finance people have READ about best-practices and implemented EVERYTHING in the book. 6. As a software engineer, my bonus is based on what percentage of my time is billable directly to a client. I'm shooting for 80%. If I make it, I get money. If not, then I get no money. However, I have no control over what projects I work on. If I work on something that isnt for a client, I am told to bill my time to this or that client anyway so I meet the 80%. Dishonest and I don't like it. 7. They are so wasteful. I was sent to a conference as a presenter. I showed up, built the booth alone--took 9 hours. The next day a BA shows up, spends 3 hours in the booth and then flies home. So, a minimum of $800 was spent to send a guy to a conference, but not for enough time to actually do anything helpful. 8. When relocating an employee, they throw away their computer and buy a new one--because it costs too much to ship. Last time I checked, $50 for shipping is less than 600 for a new computer--unless my math is wrong... Anyway, the point is that it seems like the people at the top are trying hard, but don't really know where they're going. It gives the impression that there isnt any direction and that the left hand doesnt know what the right hand is doing. As an in-the-trenches employee, its discouraging and frustrating.
