Pros
Great people and even better clients. The work is real and important to the people we serve. Good place for individuals who do not need a ton of structure. Most projects require a lot of hard work and push the team to be creative and resourceful. In 12 months you learn as much as someone in a "normal" job would learn in 3 years. Travel is expected for many and therefore offers a chance to see interesting places (mostly state capitols). 401 K match is very good.
Cons
PCG is a growing company in a very tough industry. The hours are long and the project challenges are real. Travel can be awful. This is not a place for the timid or uninspired. It feels like just when the company is getting stablized something big happens in the country or world. Current economic pressures are challenging PCG and our clients like never before. It feels like just when you think it can't get worse for our clients ... it does. Everyone is expected to carry a heavier load and sometimes I worry if we can do it. Turn over is high, but is probably just average for the consulting industry. Old boys network at the top for sure ... but growing diversity in middle management. Health insurance costs are very high.
