Pros
It turns out that building a distributed filesystem is a lot of fun! Although Qumulo is ten years old now, there's still a lot of exciting features that we're working on. The consistently high level of technical challenge is one of the key things keeping me here - 8 and a half years so far! The engineering culture is superb - super-collaborative and helpful - and teams have a lot of freedom in how they organize themselves and approach the work. There's also a high level of craftsmanship, with a detail oriented approach to testing and code factoring. Our code is built to last. We're also committed to supporting a hybrid home/office work model for the foreseeable future.
Cons
Our homegrown infrastructure can be a little painful to work with. Also, folks need to be comfortable with a certain level of ambiguity - there's often not going to be someone telling you what to do / how to do it - if that sounds daunting, Qumulo might not be a good fit.
