Pros

Loved working in an Emergency Room assisting people and clinicians. R1RCM platform ok and was combined with hospital I worked in and insurance websites. Happy to work as a team member taking care of patient access. Genuinely enjoyed assisting patients, medical staff and clinicians. I respected everyone there for caring to work there. it is not about the money for staff. It's a freaking grind.

Cons

Training was basically on the job after a few days of intro information. Trained by multiple people as i worked; some were hostile others we helpful. If one isn't fast enough - game over. its a young person or fast typist position. Lots of pressure from clinicians and medical people when patient comes in on an ambulance; messing up then is not an option. Multiple major systems including R1RCM were down from time to time or passwords would not work and I was blamed. I did get nervous typing at times but other times I was goaded and ridiculed and made to feel very inadequate.

Pros

The voluntary separation offer was good.

Cons

I and hundreds of colleagues were transferred from Providence Health & Services to R1. We were told we were guaranteed our jobs for a year. They started offering voluntary separation packages less than a year in. This was suspicious. I didn't take the first couple of offers, but eventually I did - things were feeling uneasy. Since leaving I've heard that there were several layoffs. R1's India team has taken over a lot of the coding we were doing. In the reviews I read before we started with R1 I know losing jobs to the India team was common. I'm glad I left when I did but it's been hard finding a new job.
