Pros
If you're lucky enough to get on a decent team, some of the associates are helpful towards each other.
Cons
You're punished if you speak out. My manager and supervisor wanted me off of the team and made up things about me that weren't true, and then got me fired unexpectedly because I was the only one on my team that wasn't afraid to question inaccurate or inefficient processes, and I was one of the few to ever repeatedly ask questions. My manager would be condescending and passive-aggressive. I brought this up with my supervisor, and she sided with my manager, and she frequently would ignore my emails or team messages when I asked for help. They lied to unemployment too, so that they screwed me not only out of my job, but also any assistance to get back on my feet. While I was working there, turnover was high, job security was low (I changed positions numerous times just to keep a job at all- I was looking for a new job when I was let go), there was a ton of pressure put on us to meet expectations regarding the quantity of claims we worked, but they didn't care anything about quality as long as you got the number of claims done per day that they wanted. I came across issues where other associates weren't doing any real work and were just making notes of what the claim issue was, but weren't actually fixing anything- management didn't care. When I started bringing these issues up was when I was let go. Good luck finding time to do training there- there was never time to do so, and supervisors or managers weren't always that knowledgeable, and the supervisors/managers with the most knowledge often quit because of the toxic work environment. Morale was constantly low. There wasn't a lot of praise for good work done, or incentives. The amount of time off was reduced regardless of how long you've been there and they started covering fewer holidays. If you tried to take time off, you were still expected to make up the number of daily claims that you had missed that day on a different day. Access to resources like needed web portals, correct payer contact information, correct billing information or payer contracts, etc., was very limited, not shared between teams, inconsistent, etc. When we asked for updated information, we basically were told to look for it ourselves and often did not receive help when asked, or were ignored- managers and supervisors often played favorites too. The favorites received help more frequently, received better annual reviews (the lowest reviews I've ever received were from this company- I've done well at all other companies I've worked for), were praised more frequently and received bonuses like gift cards and other items more frequently, etc. They also tracked time- while claiming that they didn't. They said that they weren't using an app to track us as it was "still in development"- and then, they freaked out when logs went up missing, time was lapsed, or it wasn't tracking properly- despite claiming that they weren't using it for tracking purposes yet. Yeah, okay. Definitely a very toxic environment.
