Pros

good people, good mission, great benefits, flexible scheudle

Cons

Working at RA was a big disappointment. Having worked for both non-profits and private sector organizations before I thought I knew what I was getting myself into but boy was I surprised. I want to say the people are all amazing but that would be a lie and it would be a very limited statement seeing that the people I started working with are all no longer there – an example of the massive turnover that the organization has had in the last few years. The specific team I worked with during my team (even with turnover) was very good. The direct supervisors I worked with were thankfully a drastic contrast to the awful management, non-existing leadership, and rude natured supervisors that others work for. My last supervisor is a perfect example of someone posed, collect, super intelligent, and kind hearted individual looking to help the world and the people she works with. It was a joy to work with her - Something I cannot say about other Directors and Managers left at RA. Management as no understand of what the day-to-day operations of teams/departments takes because they delegate everything to junior staff. These so called “directors” with “experience” do not know how to make PowerPoint presentations or enter information into systems but take all the credit when the task is done for them in moment’s time. This is all small when compared to the general lack of forward looking or productivity overall. The passionate nature of most of the staff is belittled by the rough, often difficult management staff in place. Not only do they spend wastefully, they travel extensively – often making themselves unreachable – and then are also extremely difficult to communicate with due to their dismissive nature. Additionally, if the dismissive nature of the managers was not enough the organization is dealing with a much divided leadership and the behind the scene maneuvering is so apparent its eye blinding. The rest is more of an echo to what has been said person: there is little room to grow, and there is so much bureaucracy and red tape around everything other than what the higher ups really want that it’s impossible to get a new thought/idea in. Lastly, there is so much disconnect between teams at HQ, across local offices, across departments sitting next to each other –its amazing things get done at all! The rules and laws that govern often make staff not only feel unappreciated, but also frustrated at the lack of attention to the awfulness going on throughout.

Pros

Mission driven and people that are very hardworking and want to do their best

Cons

The Executive Leadership team needs to be scrutinized. They work against each other and against RA values and devalue the mission of the amazing organization. The answer to every thing is a restructure and reorganization. Very reactive and do not learn from their past mistakes.
