Pros
I worked with some amazing people at RA and was lucky to have very good leaders on my team who lead with positivity and compassion for their reports. The time off is above average.
Cons
Strategy communications are VERY opaque. They focus almost entirely on theory of change and not at all on operations or implementation. Different departments have competing objectives, and some teams unfortunately have toxic leaders that I witnessed deliberately engaging in the undermining other teams (withholding information, failure to complete agreed deliverables, reneging on commitments). Managerial oversight is lacking at RA and many people are unreliable when it comes to deliverables. I had some colleagues working other jobs and as a result, were often unavailable. Others just didn't show up and were impossible to reach. When failures happened, they were completely overlooked. Leadership is not mature. Most senior directors and above seemed out of their depth. I was at RA for 5 years, and during 4 of those years my work was very day by day due to the lack of strategic direction and organizational guidance coming from the top down.
