Pros

There is nothing positive, progressive, or proactive about this company. More like: pompous, prohibitive and a predilection for an archaic and outdated business model

Utterly unprofessional senior leadership who deem themselves holier-than-thou, are completely narcissitic and self absored and self-aggrandizing about their delusional successes. They create an air of arrogance and invincibility. There have been so many examples of unprofessional comments and behavior from upper leadership that in the real world would keep even the most effective self respecting HR team imbedded in termination cases. The disconnect these self titled "leaders" cause within the New York City region only goes to show that their "Be One Team" guiding principle is a meaningless bunch of hyperbole. These leaders are so duplicitous, do as I say not not as I do- and are so ready to hold someone accountable yet are blind to the fact that their leadership presence and image is so tarnished in the eyes of those that they claim to serve. My first interview with region's senior leader, talked so much about himself during the interview that I wasn't sure who was actually interviewing! My second interview with another leader was another one who talked endlessly about how the (owners) begged him to join the company. The recruiter also bragged endlessly about how the owners courted him. This very same recruiter extolled proudly how he randomly discriminates against "midgets" and younger people. These "Leaders" are the reason why Raymour and Flanigan has an attrition rate that must be in the quadruple digits! There is no retention, they do not capitalize on the talents of their managers- they systematically demoralize their entire staff and they are all absolutely terrorized by the constant threat of unionization! This company is done a disservice by these leaders, they mis-represent the company at every turn. If they don't like you they treat you like a second class citizen. I've seen the region's senior leader utterly and unprofessionally embarrass the showroom manager in front of the sales associates and his own arrogance when confronted with this when he can only say "well if I did that then I apologize". An insincere apology from a disconnected and ineffective "leader" in an expensive suit. Worthless. There is an air of conspiracy and mis-trust in every showroom. Their culture is one of distrust and under-cutting between showrooms in close proximity to each other. They extoll endlessly about "speed of trust" and "investing in the emotional bank account", all the while preparing to stab you in the back. I could go on and on, but already I feel dirty and disgusted just recapping this review..I am ashamed that I still work for this company

Opportunities to learn a lot about ops and other departments

Cons

Department is poorly managed and supported. High stress with no reward.
