Pros
This company has a lot of good people who work very hard. It has so much potential to be not just a good company for it's customers, but for it's employees as well.
Cons
Huge gap between the corporate brass and the front lines of the stores. Top brass applies more and more pressure, without increasing budgets. Creates more and more "standards" that are impossible to meet. Virtually impossible for many stores to pass their regular audits when they aren't given the manpower or equipment to do so. Astounding that the company owner is a multi-billionaire, but the company hasn't updated their pos system since it first opened over 20 years ago. There are often too few registers, even fewer credit card machines (yes, the cashiers have to share in some stores). I understand that the corporate offices and those who work in them have a different, more pleasant and prehaps rewarding experience. Unfortunately, those who work in the store level, including management, all seem to be angry and bitter, having been beaten down so often, constantly having the impossible expected but success never recognized. This company is broken. It's hard to keep really good people, when you refuse to recognize them, help them, empower them to succeed. Instead, this company has a reputation of not honoring bonuses, making extensive deductions to them, and paying them late (if they pay them at all). Equipment is broken without money to fix it or update. Positions are added to payroll without any increase in budgets. Threats are handed down from corporate, then passed down from management. Staff, including dept managers are consistently bashed for not being able to get it all done, but they aren't given the help to do it (because it's not in the budget). There is virtually no training. When a new employee starts in the stores and brings an issue to management (say something is broken or not working), the standard response should NOT be "yeah, well, welcome to Restaurant Depot." And it really shouldn't be, "what do you want me to do about it?"
