Pros
It's a job! They let you move to different departments if you wish. Union position allows for you to get regular raises. Decent working hours usually. There's potential to move up, but it's a pretty low ceiling!
Cons
Working harder/ smarter generally gets you nowhere. Jobs are generally unfulfilling, uninteresting, and tiresome. They tend to view and treat the employees as disposable.
