Pros
I was already excited about the company as evidenced by the fact that I sourced myself. The reason for doing so was because I was blown away by the product and it's potential. My prior manager had also recently started working there and I knew she was spectacular and would be able to provide me with the guidance I felt I was missing at my prior job. The Onboarding was surprisingly robust for a series C startup. More surprisingly still, was how many sessions the CEO (David Hsu) personally conducted. The sessions went into great detail about the product, it's various usecases, the culture/values, the origin story, our customers, and how we hire. My team is incredibly kind and overly generous with their time. They have helped me to ramp up quickly and inspired me to incorporate many of their techniques into my recruiting process and philosophy, which is part of the reason I joined Retool -- to learn and grow. After 3.5 weeks at Retool, I am more confident than ever that I have made an amazing decision to join this company. The more I learn about the product, the more confident I am that this is a special opportunity. The more I learn about the people, the more impressed with the level of empathy, intelligence and generosity everyone seems to possesses. I wouldn't blame a reader for thinking that this sounds too good to be true or that I was handed a script and forced to write this. This is authentically how I feel and perceive Retool. I consider myself so lucky to work here -- if you're reading this, you should apply yourself and join me!
