Pros

Fun coworkers Low-risk place to learn about the corporate world Beautiful view from the office

Cons

Inexperienced leadership Dishonest leadership Inconsistent leadership Low Pay Misleading recruitment tactics Management-subordinate relationships/favoritism Victim Blaming I was not looking for a career in sales, but was told that I would start as a salesman and would have the opportunity to move into an analyst or operations role. This was not an option. The only paths upward for salesman is to outside sales or to sales "management," which consisted of being in charge of a group of 6 equally inexperienced inside salesmen. When the first negative glassdoor review landed up here, we had a meeting where a VP told us to just bring it to management's face and not take the "coward's way out" and post a review on an anonymous website. They then proceeded to make zero recommended changes, and as more and more negative reviews went up, absurd positive 5 star reviews battled to keep the average glassdoor rating from abysmal levels. Note the language in the 5 star reviews... some are legit, but the ones talking about "explosive growth" and "the chance to disrupt an industry..." who talks like that? HR and stakeholders, not the degenerates that work here. Expect to get in at 815, leave at 530. Lots of extra hours required to prospect your own leads, and you can't do the analyses to determine prospect profitability on company time (ie if you get a big customer, expect to spend your whole night doing redundant paperwork). Also, you better hope that you are put into a good market... your sales goals in a market that's been worked for 5 years will be the same goals as people placed into brand new markets. Failure to hit goals won't necessarily get you fired, but with $34k base, you will hardly be making enough to afford the commute to work every day without a hefty commission check. Even in months where I absolutely annihilated the sales goals, my commission check was never more than $1000. That is pennies compared to what legitimate companies pay their salesmen. The pro that I put, "low risk place" is because this is such a joke of a company, you can bs your way through the interview process and get something professional to put on your resume. I've worked at restaurants with more legitimate ethics and management practices. I hate to rag on this place so hard because I do truly value the relationships that this place gave me, but the sheer level of incompetency at the management level is inexcusable.

Pros

Most money I've ever made in this type of role. Manageable workload for the most part, unless you grab too many complex tickets or have things start to go sideways. Great benefits. Fun team atmosphere and culture. Have seen many people on my team get promoted into higher roles so far, so I feel like I can take my path in my own hands and push it as far as I want.

Cons

Disorganized and constantly evolving processes that live and die by "FYI's", many that you only suss out when you come across a new situation. They've tried to codify a lot of processes and have done a good job, but many are still "you need to find out in order to know". No robust task system that is oriented by roles and expectations/capabilities rather than individual's names, which is... ponderous. Need a role to do something? Go look in a directory for the person doing that at the moment (subject to change, may not be updated/old info, person could be on vacation, etc) then send it to them, rather than dropping a task in a bucket that someone assigned to that role sees. The difference sounds small but it's immense in practice. Some of the fees and charges a customer can accrue are difficult to explain because they're nakedly bill stuffing.
