Pros

SDR role - Good job to get your foot in the door and gain experience. - Acquire business acumen to propel you forward in your career - Good pay and benefits - Decent support from sales coaches Other department role - There are some opportunities to grow out of sales into other departments - Chances to earn your place and get promoted fairly quickly - The goals and vision of the company are good for the environment, and I truly believe that - Rewards people who want to go above and beyond

Cons

SDR role - Mentally exhausting - Quotas are too strict (but needed to weed out underperforming employees) - Micromanaged - Plenty of rejection by prospects - "Hunter" mindset. Common phrases are "Keep grinding!", "Hustle!", "Let's do this!!" Other department role - Upper management is hypocritical and frustrating to work with. There were multiple instances where they spoke harshly and unprofessionally to others and treated their direct reports poorly. - My women coworkers often felt discriminated against due to their sex by upper management. If they disagreed and explained their disagreements in a professional manner, they were described as "emotional" and "irritable", and were placed on leadership-improvement plans and were threatened with being demoted. Meanwhile, none of the male leaders who speak harshly and rudely were ever placed on such plans. - A project my team spent a year and a half on was rescheduled multiple times. It eventually had final approval to be launched, but was cancelled with no explanation given for 2 weeks by the CEO. Talk about killing the morale of a team Misc. - Culture is forced

Pros

Most money I've ever made in this type of role. Manageable workload for the most part, unless you grab too many complex tickets or have things start to go sideways. Great benefits. Fun team atmosphere and culture. Have seen many people on my team get promoted into higher roles so far, so I feel like I can take my path in my own hands and push it as far as I want.

Cons

Disorganized and constantly evolving processes that live and die by "FYI's", many that you only suss out when you come across a new situation. They've tried to codify a lot of processes and have done a good job, but many are still "you need to find out in order to know". No robust task system that is oriented by roles and expectations/capabilities rather than individual's names, which is... ponderous. Need a role to do something? Go look in a directory for the person doing that at the moment (subject to change, may not be updated/old info, person could be on vacation, etc) then send it to them, rather than dropping a task in a bucket that someone assigned to that role sees. The difference sounds small but it's immense in practice. Some of the fees and charges a customer can accrue are difficult to explain because they're nakedly bill stuffing.
