Pros

You work with intelligent people. Pay is decent depending on which team you're on. Work is fully remote for some teams.

Cons

If you're considering taking a job at Rocket Lawyer, let this be your warning. RL has an extremely toxic culture that starts at the top. The company is run by ego-centric leaders who throw their direct reports under the bus when anything goes wrong. Workplace politics is apparent at every level of leadership because it mirrors the top. I've been on calls where senior-level managers have bullied and embarrassed their direct reports in a room full of people, and the collective sentiment from everyone else in the room was "man, I feel bad for that person." The CEO himself is a narcissistic megalomaniac who cannot take an ounce of criticism and thus surrounds himself with yes men who will blindly agree with everything he says/does. I have never seen such a cult of personality at a company. There is zero direction in the company. Priorities shift on a weekly basis, and teams have to be prepared to drop everything they're currently working on and work on some new project/initiative at any given second. Instead of trying to improve existing products and fix errors/bugs that have been present for years, the company tries (very desperately) to stay relevant by chasing the next shiny big thing in tech. The CEO will randomly blurt out some idea on a call, and employees are expected to execute on said idea even if it makes no sense. Other C-suite executives are too afraid to stand up to the CEO, so their direct reports are constantly scrambling to work on the company's next high-priority project. Weeks before a big company layoff happened, the CEO rambled on for 20 minutes during an all-hands meeting about individual employee accountability and ownership, pretty much setting the stage for the forthcoming layoffs. After people were let go, the CEO refused to acknowledge that the layoffs even happened, instead trying to re-frame it as "managing out poor performers." Way to pin the fault on employees instead of taking accountability for over-hiring during a time of economic uncertainty. Please do yourself a favor and stay away from this company.

Pros

The communication within and across teams are clear and organized. I haven't seen anyone during my internship experience that didn't take full responsibility of their role and issue they are working on. Learnt a lot of hands-on experience.

Cons

DE team supports the entire data infrastructure at global scale, so from time to time we were overwhelmed with the entirety of the scope we have to handle.
