Pros

It can be fulfilling and is noble work, there are pockets of positivity despite the atmosphere, and there are opportunities to gain valuable education and experience

Cons

staff injuries due to not being equipped to care for lower functioning individuals at a time when management not only staffs units poorly based on arbitrary numbers versus needs, but offers conflicting expectations on how staff should respond to challenging behaviors (I.e. Trains staff in deescalation methods focused on trauma informed care then two people decide policy is wrong and must go back to coercive methods to control behaviors which most staff haven't been trained on). Culture of demeaning staff and being heavy handed on overworked, underpaid, likely traumatized staff has come from newer management styles that has a cutthroat divide and conquer mentality. Concerns of patient abuse are ignored. staff are feeling misrepresented, uncared for, and bullied. Top heavy organization where upper management gets many luxuries and expansion is happening on the backs of the low men on the totem pole. Favoritism is evident with upper management and there is no way to share concerns without fearing losing your job.

Pros

The people, Rogers attracts incredible employees. The mission/work of Rogers is also extremely attractive and it feels good to work for a company that is doing some good in the world.

Cons

Retention. Rogers for some reason cannot hang onto it's best employees and it's devaluing and destroying the culture day by day. With incredibly high turnover on many patient-facing positions, it's hard to develop any kind of consistency. Internal communication is also horrendous, senior leaders would leave or be let go and there would be no explanation or messaging to employees to explain the why or give confidence in any sort of plan moving forward. There has also been so much change in the executive leadership team that the general employee base has zero faith in the current team's direction. Many years we would have no strategic goals until halfway through the year, though employee reviews were always due on time.
