Pros

Great coworkers and staff! Floor nurses are willing to help each other out. Charge nurses are often working on the floor to help out staff.

Cons

Nurse manager and DON could be more helpful, supportive, and positive. Stronger immediate leadership would be appreciated and respected by all.

Pros

Staff typically works well together despite the cons. You’re collectively keeping your head above water to survive.

Cons

Pay, staffing are garbage. Other systems pay considerably more. Think of private equity firms without the inevitable bankruptcy. Focus is on profits, not staff or patients. ER is ran on a skeleton crew with no incentive to pickup extra shifts. Lots of pressure to “help the team” which is code for work harder for less.
