Pros

Great opportunity to get 911 experience in a fast paced, high call volume setting.

Cons

You are nothing more than a number. Management will not back you at all. Be prepared to be looking for other employment if you have family commitments or any disputable disciplinary actions. It is a corporation and local management has no backbone. They will throw you to the wolves before backing employees against cooperate.

Pros

Straightforward with their expectations of you leading up and going into the academy.

Cons

There is no room for error. If you’re not in good physical condition and think you’ll improve while in the academy you’re wrong. You need to already be in good shape or they will run you ragged for it. It’s either you’re ready or you’re not and if you’re not then they will make it as miserable as possible to test you and either you quit or they fire you.
