good union contract. which is mostly ignored by the company

Cons

The management team is fired, laid off and or quits every 6-12 months. The place is a wreck. They fired 34 Medics and 4 supervisors last years. 50% of the staff was given final written warnings and placed on probation for 2 years. In March. 4 more medics were fired. Prior to RM entering this county in 2011, the yearly turn over rate was 2%. Rural Metro's is 25% a year. Horrible place to work. They care nothing for patients or employees.

Straightforward with their expectations of you leading up and going into the academy.

Cons

There is no room for error. If you’re not in good physical condition and think you’ll improve while in the academy you’re wrong. You need to already be in good shape or they will run you ragged for it. It’s either you’re ready or you’re not and if you’re not then they will make it as miserable as possible to test you and either you quit or they fire you.
