Pros

SRP pays pretty well given the relatively low stress levels of the job. The company has a great benefits package which includes both 401K matches and a pension plan. Three day weekends every other week. These factors alone lead people to stay here for 20-30 years and then retire.

Cons

Old school mentality and extreme aversion to change. Critical thinking and healthy debate are not encouraged here and those that don’t play office politics are not rewarded with recognition or promotions. Lots of dead weight leading to uneven shouldering of workload.

Pros

SRP gave me stability, experience, and the chance to build real skills. I had positive experiences there, and I’m grateful for parts of it. But I’m also realizing that the environment doesn’t always operate from a positive or growth-minded place, and I have to be honest about what that has cost me

Cons

The con is not that SRP is a bad place. The con is that it can give you stability and experience, but not always a clear or fair feeling of movement. You can give a lot, build a lot, and still feel like you’re waiting for someone to finally see it
